Shaping Policy
We are building a voice for families and a family-friendly economy in Oregon through:
- developing partnerships and working relationships with other organizations committed to the economic well-being of families in general and women and children in particular
- participating in the Time To Care Coalition, the Oregonians for Working Families Coalition, the VOIS Policy Team and the Women's Health and Wellness Alliance
- bringing the economic perspective of mothers and other caregivers into conversations with service providers, policy-makers, and advocates
- researching key issues and sharing information with parents, other caregivers, policy-makers and employers
We take a unique approach to advocacy. Our approach is multi-layered and multi-issue. In addition to the traditional approach of working with policy-makers, we are working directly with employers as well as directly with the workers and families impacted by outdated policies. We are working to bring people together around a multi-issue, forward-thinking, pro-family agenda.
There are many ways you can join us in this work, including:
- Volunteer! Help with research, grant development, marketing, and community organizing needed
- Talk to your elected officials about an issue or solution.
- Lead a Family Forward discussion or Action Group
- Participate in Advocacy 101 through Family Forward Oregon
- Take action on issues that help Oregon's families.
