We couldn’t be more pleased to introduce you to the newest member of the Family Forward team, Ashnie Butler.  Ashnie is stepping into a new, but very needed role with us: Outreach Coordinator.

What does an Outreach Coordinator do, you ask?  In our case, something incredibly important: reaching out to and connecting with Oregonians (like you!) to listen to your stories about meeting the competing demands of work and family caregiving — whether it’s your kids, your partner, your grandma, your dad, or yourself.  After all, every one of us has a family, in one way shape or form.  And most of us will need to care for one (or more!) of them in our lifetimes.

Ashnie will be reaching out to Oregonians across the state to hear their experiences and engage them in our work to move Oregon forward for families. We invite you to share your experiences as an Oregon caregiver and family member with us –it is incredibly helpful in our work fighting for better work-family policies for women, families, and caregivers.

Before joining our team, Ashnie worked for many years as a grassroots organizer for social justice issues, including organizing child care workers in California and participating in the Theater of the Oppressed, which uses theatre as means of promoting social and political change. And very worth noting in our field, she is proud mama to a seven year old.  Get to know Ashnie a little better in our short Q + A with her.

We’re excited to apply her expertise and passion to our efforts to create an Oregon where all women and families have a fair shot at economic security. We hope you’ll have a chance to meet Ashnie soon!

PS – Ready to share your story?  Ashnie is easy to reach at ashnie@familyforwardoregon.org or (503) 928-6789
